Senior Tableau Engineer / Migration Specialist

Role Overview

  • Lead and execute migration of Tableau dashboards from on-prem Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud
  • Work across dashboards, data sources, extracts, and Tableau Bridge
  • Collaborate with architects, data teams, and business stakeholders


Key Responsibilities

  • Migrate 100+ Tableau dashboards to Tableau Cloud
  • Reconfigure embedded data sources and extracts
  • Set up and manage Tableau Bridge for on-prem connectivity
  • Configure and optimize extract refresh schedules
  • Recreate subscriptions, schedules, and user access
  • Perform dashboard validation and UAT support
  • Troubleshoot performance, refresh failures, and connectivity issues
  • Recommend improvements for performance and governance


Required Skills

  • Strong experience with:
  • Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud
  • Extracts (Hyper), scheduling, and subscriptions
  • Tableau Bridge (must-have)
  • Strong SQL skills (preferably SQL Server)
  • Experience with data marts and extract-based architectures


Migration Experience (Critical)

  • Hands-on experience migrating Tableau environments (Server → Cloud preferred)
  • Experience handling Embedded data sources, Extract refresh and scheduling optimization
  • Exposure to large-scale migrations (50+ dashboards)
  • Ability to optimize Dashboard performance, Extract design and refresh times
  • Experience troubleshooting Slow dashboards, Refresh delays & failures, Scheduling conflicts


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Tableau REST API / automation scripting
  • Knowledge of Tableau governance best practices
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)


Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder interaction
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset


Nice to Have

  • Tableau certifications
  • Experience with data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
  • Exposure to BI modernization initiatives
